Fire Fighting is also not for the faint hearted. The instructors for this training are highly skilled in the art of fighting fires. Christchurch Helicopters has been involved in fighting fires in the dry Canterbury region for many years and has won the support of the Department of Conservation (DOC) and Rural Fire Authority and become the first response unit for the Canterbury Region.
We have also trained hundreds of ground personnel from the NZ Fire Service, Rural Fire, DOC and local regional councils in working around helicopters whilst on fire duty.
Our instructors can teach you all of the do's and don'ts with using monsoon buckets to effectively fight grass, scrub, brush and forest fires. We also cover other areas such as working with ground personnel and deploying them to fire grounds, filling portable dams and other associated tasks.
In this exacting environment, you want to train with a company that has been to the ?real? thing and experienced the pitfalls that can catch even the most professional pilot out.
